Weekly Garbage Collection
Weekly garbage collection is provided to one, two, and three-family residences in the City of West Allis. Garbage must be accessible to crews at an alley or curb location by 7 a.m. on the assigned day of collection.

Items Not Accepted with Garbage Collection
Recyclables (dispose of in recycling cart).
Brush and yard waste - see disposal information.
Grass clippings - see disposal information.
TVs/ computer monitors - see disposal information.
Computers and electronics, i.e. stereos, printers, monitors - see disposal information.
Household hazardous waste - see disposal information.
Infectious wastes such as hypodermic needles, lancets, blood or blood tainted products, pathologic wastes, animal carcasses - see sharps disposal information.
Propane tanks.
Tires.
Large appliances/white goods - see disposal information.
Explosive or flammable products.
Industrial waste such as pallets, etc.
Concrete, asphalt, dirt, etc.
Liquid cell batteries, i.e. car, boat, motorcycle - see drop off information.
Special Pick-Up (Bulk Collection)
An application to submit a request for an estimate and to pay for a special pick-up (bulk collection) of items from 1 to 8 cubic yards can be submitted online.
If you have less than 1 cubic yard you do not need to submit an application.
For amounts greater than 8 cubic yards consider rental of a commercial dumpster.
Contractor generated materials will not be collected. Make arrangements for proper disposal with the contractor.
Biweekly Recycling Collection
The City provides every other week recycling collection service for one to four-family residences. Recyclables should be placed at the curb or alley edge by 7 a.m. on the same day as your trash collection.
Find your pick-up day by looking up your address in our Property Search tool. Type in your address and search for it first, and then select "Property Info" from the drop-down menu to see your garbage and recycling collection day.

Purchase Garbage or Recycling Carts
Garbage and/or recycling carts can be purchased online. **Please note, as of Dec. 11, 2024 garbage carts are on backorder and may take up to 4-8 weeks for delivery. We apologize for any inconvenience.
