Operating a Food Truck

Anyone operating a food truck, trailer, or pushcart must have the following:

  • A Food License issued by the Southwest Suburban Health Department or a food license from other jurisdictions/municipalities in the state of Wisconsin.

  • A Service Base license or Retail Food Establishment License for the service base or variance for no service base from the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP).

  • Certified Food Protection Manager Certificate, if necessary.

Failure to obtain and display the above will result in a citation and the inability to operate.

Licensing

  • If you are applying for a license in the City of West Allis, click here or call 414-302-8600 to speak with an Environmentalist.

  • License fees are based on the complexity of the food processes.

  • Food truck vendors licensed by the Southwest Suburban Health Department are not charged an additional inspection fee.
