Food establishments in the City of West Allis, Greenfield, and West Milwaukee are inspected for violations and unsafe practices by Health Department Environmentalists. They follow the Wisconsin Food Code for safe food handling and good retail practices. Click the below links for more information.
Apply for a Food License
All food businesses need a food license according to state code. Bars need to also use the food license application to apply for a sanitation permit/fee.
Certified Food Manager
Food establishments must have a certified food protection manager on staff, click the below link for more information.
Employee Illness
Infected food workers present a severe food safety risk. The person in charge is required to notify the Health Department Environmentalists if any food employees are jaundiced or known to be infected with:
Salmonella
Shigella
Shiga toxin-producing E. coli
Hepatitis A virus
Norovirus
Typhoid fever

FDA Posters/Storyboards - Educational Materials for Food Employees: These posters/storyboards are designed to enhance food safety training efforts at the retail level by helping food employees understand the important role they play in protecting public health. They are available in nine different languages, including Arabic, English, Hindi, Korean, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
