Paying Taxes

Taxes are due, in full, Jan. 31 of each year. All special assessments and special charges are due in full on Jan. 31 of each year. The City allows taxes to be paid on an interest free installment plan. To qualify, the property owner must pay a minimum of all special assessments and special charges (if any) plus third of the tax amount due on or before Jan. 31 of that year. To continue on the interest free installment plan, the second third of the tax due must be paid on or before March 31. The balance or the last third of the taxes due must be paid on or before May 31.

Any violation of the above requirements invalidates the interest free qualification and interest and penalties must be collected on the amount in violation. The interest and penalties total one and one-half percent per month and start Feb. 1.

All tax payments received are processed each business day. The affected accounts are electronically updated and confirmation can be made at 8 a.m. the following business day. To receive a receipt for your tax payment, include a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your tax payment.

Online Payments

Tax bills may be paid online using the City's online e-Services. Credit card payments will include an additional 2.5% service fee, paid to the credit card processor, not the City of West Allis. The customer assumes full responsibility for all online transactions and no warranty or guarantee is given by the City of West Allis for online ACH or credit card transactions.
