E-Cycling

The West Allis Department of Public Works operates a program to accept electronics for e-cycling.

This program is only for one to four-family residential properties in West Allis. Individuals will be required to show identification to verify they are West Allis residents.

Items may be brought to the Municipal Yard at 6300 W. McGeoch Ave. Hours of operation (subject to change):

  • Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 7:15 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  • Wednesday from 7:15 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Remove all personal or confidential information from devices prior to drop-off. The City of West Allis is not responsible for data left on devices. For certain items, such as televisions and computer monitors, there will be a fee.

Accepted Items

  • Appliances-small

  • Batteries

    • Rechargeable batteries - Never put these batteries in your recycling or garbage cart - they can start a fire in the back of the truck! Rechargeable batteries (NiCd, NiMH, NiZn, Li-ion, SSLA/Pb) are recyclable through a variety of local retailers serving as drop-off locations. Rechargeable batteries contain toxic chemicals and must be properly disposed of through specific recycling locations instead of being placed in the garbage or recycling cart.  They can also be brought to the West Allis Municipal Yard.

    • Vehicle batteries -  Lead-acid batteries, typically found in cars and other vehicles, must be recycled in the State of Wisconsin. Many stores that sell these batteries accept them for recycling while offering savings on the purchase of a new one. They can also be brought to the West Allis Municipal Yard.

    • Alkaline (single use) Batteries - Never put these batteries in your recycling cart. Single-use batteries (A, AA, AAA, C, D, etc.) can be thrown out in your regular garbage or can be recycled for a fee through a variety of mail-in programs or local retail drop-offs. Recycling these batteries through mail-in or retail drop off programs can recover steel and zinc.
