Biography

Ray Turner attended high school in Chicago before earning his bachelor’s degree in human resources from Chicago State University. Ray and his wife, West Allis resident Diane Duncomb, had their first date at a James Taylor concert at the Wisconsin State Fair. After marrying, Ray and Diane purchased their home in West Allis in 1990 and would go on to raise their two sons in the City. Because Diane was a resident, Ray found the transition to West Allis easy. He devoted his career to retail management and played a key role in opening the Marshalls store on Highway 100 and Cleveland Avenue and managed the Kmart at 70th and Greenfield for many years. Now retired, Ray feels serving as an alderperson is an ideal way to give back to the city he has called home for the past 34 years. He notes that he feels lucky to be serving in this role at a time when so much is happening in West Allis and hopes to make a positive impact during his term.
