The City is required to have an annual audit each year per Wisconsin State statutes and as an issuer of municipal bonds. During the audit, the City's financial records and internal controls are reviewed and tested and the financial statements are formally prepared and reviewed. The Annual Report includes the City's financial statements to provide information regarding the financial position of the City and the results of operations, as well as various statistical information and narrative analysis.

The City's Annual Report has received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the last fifteen years from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). Receipt of this prestigious award indicates that the City has published an easily readable and efficiently organized Annual Report which satisfies generally accepted accounting principles and applicable legal requirements in an effort to enhance transparency and provide full disclosure.
