In 2016, the City of West Allis adopted an updated to its Comprehensive Park and Outdoor Recreation Plan. This plan informs the City's approach to acquiring and developing public outdoor parks and recreation facilities and was developed as a companion to the City's 2030 Comprehensive Plan.
Recommendations
The plan included general recommendations on policy, future park locations, master plans for specific parks, and specific improvement for all individual parks. Recommendations addressed:
- Need for new parks and park facilities
- Park infrastructure issues
- Maintenance and policy issues
- Funding issues
Progress
Since the plan's adoption, a variety of general and park-specific recommendations have been completed. Some key improvements include:
- 58th & Beloit mini-park expansion
- Railroad Park improvements
- Veterans Memorial Park playground, exercise area
- Liberty Heights pickleball courts
- Reservoir Park playground
