  1. Preschool Power Storytime

    October 16, 10:00 AM - 10:40 AM @ Library, Children's Story Room

    Preschool Power is a storytime for children who are 3-5 years old. Each session includes age appropriate songs, rhymes, and books. Sessions end with a craft. Registration is required and can be done in person, online, or by calling the library at 414-302-8502 beginning September 5.

    All ages are welcome to this weekly arts and crafts night. Each week a different craft will be out in the Children's department of the library from 6:30 to 8:00pm, while supplies last. Children 6 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is not required.

Senior Center Programs & Activities

  1. Pocket Billiards

    October 16, 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM @ Senior Center

    Play billiards from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday at the West Allis Senior Center (billiards may be cancelled if a special event is scheduled in the lower level). A donation of $.25 per session is requested. These funds help maintain the billiards equipment. Open to all Senior Center members.

  2. Walk with Ease

    October 16, 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM @ Senior Center

    The Arthritis Foundation walk with Ease Program is an exercise program that can reduce pain and improve overall health. If you can be in your feet for 10 minutes with increased pain, you can have success with Walk with Ease. Walk with Ease will help you motivate yourself to get in shape, walk safely and comfortably, improve your strength and stamina, and reduce pain. Classes are one hour each, three times per week for six weeks. This class is $20 for all participants, and you do not have to be a Senior Center member to join. Checks may be made payable to City of West Allis.

    Looking for relief from arthritis pain? Just want to be active? The Arthritis Foundation's Walk With Ease program can teach you how to safely make physical activity part of your everyday life. Walk With Ease is designed to help people living with arthritis better manage their pain, but it's also ideal for people without arthritis who want to make walking a regular habit. If you can be on your feet for 10 minutes without increased pain, Walk With Ease may be for you. Classes are one-hour each, three times per week for six weeks.

    Join us and learn techniques for creating fabulous greeting cards, gift tags, and more! Group members share a variety of techniques and explore methods on video including ink stamping, paper punching, applique, recycling/repurposing and more! Proceeds from the sale of cards made in this group are used to replenish card making supplies. Donations of used cards are gladly accepted. Free for all Senior Center members.

  5. Arthritis Exercise Classes

    Join Shirley Laux, certified Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program Instructor, for these gentle exercise classes. Relieve arthritis pain through gentle motion and activities designed to help increase joint flexibility and increase range of motion, while gaining muscle strength. These sessions feature gentle stretching, low intensity aerobics and chair exercises. Free for all Senior Center members.

  6. Senior Meal Program

    October 16, 11:30 AM - 2:00 PM @ Senior Center

    The Milwaukee County Department on Aging Senior Meal Program is open to all seniors aged 60+ and their spouse of any age. Advance reservations are required by noon the day before. Call 414-289-6995 to reserve a meal. Participants are encouraged to contribute $3 per meal to help defray program expenses.   8. Acrylic Painting Group

    October 16, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Senior Center

    Senior Center members who love to paint are invited to work with others in this informal group. Participants work on their own stretched canvas or canvas boards and provide their own materials. This is a fun opportunity to share creativity with other senior painters.
